A Frame is Worth - Bonita Y. McCoy

A Frame is Worth a Thousand Attitudes...

"What he thinks is what he really is." Proverbs 23:7 (TEV)

You've heard the old adage a picture is worth a thousand words, but have you ever thought about the frame?

The frame is what guides your eye into the picture. It shows you what to focus on. It tells you where to put the emphasis.

In our walk with the Lord, we need to be careful how we frame our circumstances because how we think about them will determine our attitudes.  What we think will make us who we are.

If we forget that the Lord has everything in hand, that He is a giver of good gifts, and that even the trouble and suffering we encounter is tempered by Him, we may be tempted to grumble and complain. And yes, I'm talking to myself.  I'm probably the worst about this.

We might want to sulk or have a pity party about the things going on in our lives whether within our control or not.

But if we frame the circumstances of life within the context of God's precious promises, His comfort, His love, it changes the focus and our eyes move towards Him and not to the situations that we are walking through.

Pictures are beautiful, but frames direct. The next time you are feeling overwhelmed or worried try to frame the situation in the context of God's amazing grace and direct your thinking to that of worship, praise, thankfulness, and gratitude. Your confidence in the Lord will be a wonderful picture of His presence and peace.
