A New Mission - Bonita Y. McCoy

Before we were rescued by Christ, we pursued the mission of self.

We worried about what to eat and what to wear. We viewed everything in conjunction with how it affected self or "me".

Now, in Christ, we have been given a new mission. The mission of bringing others back to Him, the mission of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5.

We are light, so others can see Christ.

We are salt, so others can taste and see that the Lord is good.

We live in His presence, so others can see that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

In our new mission with Christ, self becomes less, so Christ can become more in order for others to become reconciled to Christ.

We are not the Holy Spirit drawing others. We must not try to do the work of the Spirit. We are, however, living sacrifices called to live a life for Christ.  As we live for Christ, others will see Him in us.

"And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again....All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation."

Less of us, more of Him.

Connecting Others to God.

Father,
May you in this New Year keep our mission before us - May our lives reflect Christ and may the Holy Spirit draw many back to you.
Amen
